The defending champion attacks from the first second
Due to the heavy snowfall, many of the mushers were talking about a slow start the last hours ahead of the start. But not the defending champion. Peter Kaiser attacked the snowy trail immediately after the countdown in Willow. He was the ninth musher to start this years race, and it did not take long before he was the lead dog.
Peter Kaiser is one of the big favorites in this years race. He has finished top five six times, including last years first place.
Thousands of spectators were crowded up along the first mile of the snowy trail to celebrate this years edition of the worlds most famous dog race. Already 4,5 hours into the race, at 6:30 pm local time, Peter Kaiser had passed all eight in front of him, obviously not afraid of spending too much energy plowing trough the snow. How much it will cost, we will se the next days in this great wilderness adventure.
The 2020-race is broadcasted at Iditarod.com, Qrillpaws.com and VG.no (Norway).
