Day 4 - Iditarod 2022: the game changer
Sleep deprivation is finally taking its toll, and it’s time the mushers take their 24 hours of mandatory rest at one of the upcoming checkpoints. Brent Sass was first out of Nikolai, but Aaron Burmeister catches up to him and is first to get into the 7th checkpoint, McGrath. He decides to take his 24 hours rest there.
Brent Sass and Dallas Seavey journey on to Ophir, leapfrogging each other. Brent comes first to Cripple where he and Dallas are taking their 24h rest.
A storm is coming
Things are about to get even more interesting as a storm is coming - winds and 20cm of snow are expected.
Will the mushers who decided to take their rest at Cripple be in the advantage as they seem to be ahead of the storm? Or will the ones who stayed at McGrath and Ophir be in the advantage as their dogs are rested and can push through the storm? We will know in a few hours.
So stay tuned to see how it all evolves.
