Mihail Fateev in the lead of the Big Volga Quest

The third leg of the International sled dog race Volga Quest 2020 started today, with Mihail Fateec in the lead. Volga Quest is, as well known, included in the International Arctic Series QRILL PAWS.

The racers of the Big Volga started the third leg Monday morning. First musher at the starting point was Mihail Fateev. It is about -20С° monday morning, quite frosty that may be good for the dogs with thick fur.

“Mihail Fateev overtook all the rivals and came first to the finish in Sosnovyi Bor having shown the time of three hours, 21 minutes and 33 seconds. The second with the difference of 25 minutes was Vyacheslav Demchenko, Three minutes later after him came Yuriy Goryunov. Arseniy Tyuryumin finished 46 minutes later that the race lider, but as far as his team had been stopped by the volunteers at the crossing of the route with the railroad for five minutes, this time was not counted and so Tyuryumin is 41 minutes later”, Volga Quest reports.

The first to finish among the Middle Volga participants was Vladimir Davydov, 4 hours, 4 minutes and 32 seconds ahead of number two. Then in order: Anna Eryemina, Olesya Karimova, Pavel Aleksandrov and Maria Fedorova.

“Altogether on the second day there were 14 teams for the Middle Volga and 6 teams for the Big Volga at the finish point. Two of Oleg Svischev's dogs were injured, and he decided to quit. One more to quit was Andrey Nazarov, one of the younger participants. Both teams were taken to the check-point by the mushers' handlers.” Volga Quest reports.
