27 hours into the race, Aaron Burmeister only rested 15 minutes at the 4th checkpoint Rainy Pass, and is now in the “first place”. Standings dont mean a lot at this point in the race, but some are more eager to keep a faster pace than others. The snow has kept filling the trail during the night, and the conditions are still very slow.

Burmeister is heading home, born and raised in Nome and this is his 19th Iditarod. The veterans best result is the third place in 2015. Burmeister has left a dog behind and is now racing with thirteen.

Peter Kaiser was the first musher reaching Rainy Pass, but have at this point rested a bit more than Burmeister. According to Peter him self, he is racing with the best dog team he ever had.

Travis Beals out of Turning Heads Kennel was second into Rainy Pass. The legend and four times champion Lance Mackey was the third musher to arrive at the fourth checkpoint. Lance has been resting more than the other mushers in the top 5 and has been positing himself good at the moment. But we are just in the beginning of the great race, there are many miles to go.
