The top three finishers in 120 miles distance was an all-female sweep. (Duluth, Minnesota)

Erin Schouweiler makes it five wins in six years for Otter Run Kennel out of Irma, Wis. And with two other female racers on the podium in the Beargrease 120, it´s all about the girls.

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is well underway with two of the three races complete. Early monday morning, Erin Schouweiler, of Otter Run Kennel, took home the title of Beargrease 120 Champion at the Trestle Inn, Finland, Minnesota.

And the Beargrease 40 finished last night in Two Harbors, MN. Martha Schouweiler took home a new title, Beargrease 40 Champion. Her daughter in law Erin, stated that she felt a bit of pressure on her to perform well seeing as her mother in law. Martha Schouweiler is a 4-time Beargrease 120 Champion (2015-2018).

But of course Erin handled that pressure.

Erin’s team looked fresh and they were still ready to run when they hit the finish line, a testament to the great canine health care that these mushers pour into their teams.

Second place went to Rita Wehseler, Tofte, MN, Stone Creek Kennels. And Steph Love, Duluth Mn running out of MoeTown Kennels, came in third place. An impressive finish by an all-female cast.
