This Is QRILL PAWS 2022! Are you ready?

We can finally say it once again - QRILL PAWS 2022 IS READY TO ROLL!

That’s despite another difficult year for race organizers and everyone involved in sled dog events.

QRILL PAWS 2022 is now ready to roll!

Last season, quite a few sled dog races were either canceled or adapted. At the time we are writing this article, the 2022 season seems to be returning to a new type of normal. We now know for sure that this season will be once again filled with race news and live action from some of the most spectacular long-distance races in the world, starting with Beargrease in January and ending with Iditarod in March.

Despite everything and all the challenges we may still have to face, we can promise you this: QRILL PAWS 2022 will be just as spectacular as ever!

We are so immensely proud to bring you the best possible coverage of the 2022 race editions, with all the changes and adaptations the organizers would need to enforce.

Before getting into all the details behind this year’s races, here is how QRILL PAWS 2021 was.

John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon – January 30th - February 2nd

As always, this spectacular 300-mile race from Minnesota’s North Shore, which was created in honor of the 19th-century mailman John Beargrease, takes place at the beginning of February.

To catch all the action behind it, please visit the following channels:

Beargrease 2022 starts Sunday, January 30th, in Duluth, Minnesota

Femundløpet – February 3rd - February 7th

Last year, due to the COVID-19 situation in Norway, the race was canceled. At the moment, the 2022 race is scheduled to take place.

“The world’s largest sled dog race”, Femundløpet will start once again in February in the historic mountain town of Røros, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you want to be a part of it, here are the channels you have to follow:

Iditarod – March 5th - March 15th

The Last Great Race on Earth and the toughest sled dog race in the world, takes place, as always, in the wilderness of Alaska. At the moment, the 1000-mile race seems to be back to its normal northern route, starting in Anchorage and ending in Nome.

 QRILL PAWS 2022

Qrill Pet Arctic World Series (or QRILL PAWS) was created around some of the largest sled dog events in the world, with the aim of bringing the races and the sport in front of a bigger audience.

More than that, QRILL PAWS’s intention was to be able to choose a winner of the whole series, based on a point system that covered all races. Being that the current pandemic is still ongoing, preventing many mushers from traveling abroad, just as in 2021, we will have no general classification of the series as a whole.

What will happen is that each of these races will have their respective winners and podium finishers in 2022, and there will not be a QRILL PAWS 2022 Championship.

Let’s hope we can get back to that in 2023!
